Noone really eats Chupa Chups in the states, huh? I used to love them as a kid in Korea. My favorite was the strawberry and cream duo.
I'm going to Seoul in 3 days. I haven't been to my home country in over 6 years, and my mom keeps warning me that I'll be a complete country bumpkin when I get there, lost in the whir of streets lined with intimidating highrises and fast-paced shoulder-bumping people. They don't even say, 'excuse me,' she says. I reply to her that I'll bump their shoulder back with a glare, and my mom ends this tiff with a simple comeback: You're so brittle, you're going to break into two even before you try. Thanks mom, I appreciate you raising me a strong woman you can believe in.

It was a cloudy and rather overcast today. I stayed home alone and watched Vivre Sa Vie. It was fragile and beautiful, and Anna Karina was perfect.
This scene at Place du Châtelet in the film was especially pertinent to me. I often sit in the midst of a conversation, conscious about what I say. Sometimes I can't find the words to say at all. I know that films are films and reality is another subject, but I often find myself learning or absorbing things about life from cinema.

A lesson in the importance of good genetics:

Chara (mama) and 浅野忠信/Tadanobu Asano (papa)
Equals

Their daughter, スミレ/Sumire, on the cover of Charo's album, Honey
I'm a huge fan of the Japanese actor, Tadanobu Asano. Did you know that he's half Japanese and half Native American? Did you also know that he's married to singer Chara (not to be confused with Charo), and have two kids? One of their children, Sumire, is on the cover of Honey.
Chara's side-project band Mean Machine is really good. Their album, Cream, has an awesome lo-fi sound. Think Breeders meets Asobi Seksu. I am listening to it while bopping my head, kinda like a muppet.

The good, the bad, and the ugly. I walked in an informal fashion show for Foam Mag yesterday and the makeup looked so dewy and pretty that I had to take photos. The weather has been shit supremo in LA lately, but this has not stopped me from wearing this cool outfit practically everyday! It's so trendily retrospective it kind of hurts ... ugh!
